Ellis Robinson of Ruth’s List – “Florida Politics by the Numbers”

Ellis-Robinson-2014Join us as we welcome Ellis Robinson Executive Director of Ruth’s List.

Ruth’s List was formed in 2008 with the goal to build a progressive Florida by recruiting, supporting, and electing pro-choice Democratic women to state and local office. To date, Ruth’s List has trained more than 500 candidates, and provided coaching for and actively endorsed dozens of candidates for statewide office, the State Legislature, County Commissions, and key City Council races.

Did you know that…

  • Although 53% of Florida registered voters are women, they represent less than 25% of our office-holders.
  • Once elected, Democratic women are the most progressive voters on policy. Elect a pro-choice, Democratic women and you also elect a pro-environment, pro-labor, pro-children, pro-education, pro-equality, and overall progressive champion.
  • Ruth’s List has done the numbers and has a plan to reach 40%+1 in one house of the legislature by 2016 and tie or take-back one house by 2020. Come learn more about these numbers and most importantly how we can help achieve them!
