With the presidential election behind us and the Florida gubernatorial election still ahead, Sarasota County is turning its attention to the City Commission race. This year there are two At-Large seats up for election on March 12th. At-large seats represent the whole city and are voted on by all registered voters in the city. The two At-Large seats are currently held by Mayor Suzanne Atwell and Commissioner Terry Turner. Terry is not seeking re-election, but Democrat Suzanne Atwell is.

There are a total of six candidates running for these two seats. Three of them are Democrats and will be featured at our March 9th luncheon at the Sarasota Yacht Club. Please join us as we welcome incumbent Mayor Suzanne Atwell, along with Susan Chapman, and Linda Holland.

The program will be moderated by WSRQ Talk Radio’s Susan Nilon, who has been closely following the race on her radio show and has moderated other events with the candidates. Please note that this month’s luncheon will be held at the Sarasota Yacht Club.

This month’s luncheon is held at the Sarasota Yacht Club, 1100 John Ringling Blvd, Sarasota, FL. Take the Ringling Bridge from downtown Sarasota. Stay in the left lane. Drive over the bridge and past the traffic light for Bird Key. At the next opening, turn left into the Sarasota Yacht Club parking lot. (If you miss this turn, you can make a U-turn at the next light, which is for Plymouth Harbor.)

NEW PRICE AS OF JANUARY 2013: Cost for Members is $24 each. Cost for non-members or walk-in’s is $26 each. You may pay by cash or with a check made payable to the DCS. Please fill out checks ahead of time. Visa and Mastercard are now also accepted.

IMPORTANT – Reservations are required and must be made by midnight on Wednesday, March 6th. Cancellations must also be made by midnight, March 6th or you will be billed for your meal.

Social Hour starts at 11 with the program beginning promptly at noon.
