Join us as we welcome Equality Florida’s Executive Director, Nadine Smith. Equality Florida is the largest civil rights organization dedicated to securing full equality for Florida’s LGBT community.

Equality Florida formed in 1997 as Governor Jeb Bush took office and Florida’s state government made a hard turn to the right. In an era of setbacks for progressive causes, Equality Florida has defeated every piece of anti-LGBT legislation filed in Tallahassee since its founding. These bills included efforts to: overturn all local anti-discrimination policies, repeal all safe schools policies, expand Florida’s anti-gay adoption ban, and prohibit domestic partnership benefits and protections.

Through lobbying, grassroots organizing, education, and coalition building, Equality Florida is changing Florida so that no one suffers harassment or discrimination on the basis of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

The luncheon is held at Laurel Oak Country Club, 2700 Gary Player Blvd, Sarasota, FL. Travel 2 miles east of I-75 on Bee Ridge Road. Turn left at the light at Gary Player Blvd. Bent Tree will be on your right. Proceed past the guard shack, through one stop sign, and the club house will be on your left.

Social Hour starts at 11 with the program beginning promptly at noon.

Cost for Members is $24 each. Cost for non-members or walk-in’s is $26 each. You may pay by cash, Mastercard, Visa or with a check made payable to the DCS. Please fill out your checks ahead of time.
