You are invited to attend our annual dinner on Sunday evening, December 3rd, at the Longboat Key Club.
Keynote Address
We will hear remarks from Nathan Bruemmer, Executive Director of ALSO Youth. Nathan is a native Floridian from the Tampa Bay area, a former public school teacher, and a lifetime advocate for LGBTQ rights. During law school at Stetson University, Nathan was selected as the Andrew S. Cray Law Fellow with the National Center for Transgender Equality in Washington, DC and worked on policy initiatives to advance transgender equality. In June, Nathan was honored by the Tampa Bay Business Journal with the “Outstanding Voices” award for his work in LGBTQ advocacy. He has spent years working in the nonprofit sector, consulting for nonprofits, and has served on several non-profit boards.
Carroll Buchanan Award Presentation
At the dinner, we will award the 7th Annual Democratic Club of Sarasota Carroll Buchanan Award to Murray Blueglass. This award will recognize Murray for his service to our local Democratic community. Murray spent his 40 year career as a public school educator and since retirement has been an active member of the Democratic Executive Committee, president of the Longboat Key Democratic Club, and has served our larger community on Sarasota School District Advisory Committees, as well as tutoring at Booker Elementary.

The Democratic Club of Sarasota exists because of your support! We represent Democrats at festivals and expos across the county raising Democratic awareness, recruiting new Democrats, offering voter registration and Vote by Mail, and working hand in hand with the Sarasota County Democratic Party on special projects.
We also partner with like-minded local organizations, provide candidate forums, educational and networking events. Please help us continue our work into 2018 election year by joining us on Sunday evening, December 3rd!
