December 12 Democratic Club of Sarasota Zoom Meeting with Special Guest, Holocaust Survivor and Equal Rights Activist Sonia Pressman Fuentes
Join the Democratic Club of Sarasota on Saturday, December 12 to hear Sonia Pressman Fuentes speak about her life and work. An author and attorney, Ms. Fuentes will speak about her experience as a women’s rights activist since 1963. She was the first woman lawyer in the General Counsel’s office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), as well as a co-founder of the National Organization for Women (NOW), the Women’s Equity Action League (WEAL), and Federally Employed Women (FEW). Ms. Fuentes has received numerous awards for her commitment to women’s issues and leadership in the fields of law and business, lectured extensively around the world on women’s rights, and written numerous articles on that subject in law reviews and other publications.
Born in Berlin, Ms. Fuentes came to the U.S. with her family in 1934, to escape the Holocaust. She subsequently graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Cornell University and summa cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law. Ms. Fuentes lives in Sarasota and is the author of Eat First–You Don’t Know What They’ll Give You and The Adventures of an Immigrant Family and Their Feminist Daughter.

DATE – Saturday, December 12, 2020 – Program starts at 2:00 pm and concludes at 3:30 pm ET. Join the meeting as early as 1:30 p.m. to socialize with fellow Democrats.
